Post-seminar blog on “Japanese Acupuncture Seminar with Tak – Foundation’s Course”

March 21, 2022 By Shiori Kajiwara

March 13, 2022 Seminar

We have been waiting so long for this day to come. Since the last seminar was held by Seino-sensei 2 years ago, due to things like COVID, we couldn’t have an in-person seminar until today. Although we could not have Seino-sensei come all the way from Japan this time, fortunately, Tak (Tsurusaki-sensei) has kindly accepted our request to teach us the foundations of the Seino System.

This seminar was a little bit special compared to the one from 2 years ago – Tak has taken the content from the last seminar and fused it with his various knowledge, information, and techniques that have been accumulated throughout his 35 years of clinical experience. Along with Tak’s comedian-like teaching style, it turned out very interactive with a room full of laughter from the beginning to the end.

In this seminar, we had a variety of participants. There was a mix of an acupuncturist, acupuncture students and even those who have not yet entered acupuncture school but are interested in becoming one in the future!

To such a wide range of participants, what kind of high-level seminar did Tak present!?

In the morning, we learned about…

  • History of Acumoxa
  • What is the body made of? How about humans? (Mind, body and soul)
  • What is the 氣 “Qi”? What is 氣血 ”Qi and Body (blood etc.)”

We all buckled down to somehow input the detailed information from the lecture into our brains.

In the afternoon, we learned about Japanese needling and moxibustion techniques. We just practiced, practiced, and practiced…

In sum, this seminar covered the important parts of the basic, basic, basic, basic, basic, basic…

…basic foundation of the Seino System.

Seino System – Seino-sensei’s acumoxa protocol based on 40 years of practice and research – gives us the ability and the confidence to treat any patient and any illness. Not only that, but it can also help practitioners, who do not have years of clinical experience yet, to obtain the power to utilize acumoxa in a wide range of medical fields. Isn’t it amazing!?

However, without the basics, we cannot go anywhere. Just like the tree without the roots will easily be blown away by the wind, we need to have a solid base. Tak taught us the basic knowledge of acupuncture and moxibustion, and showed us ‘how to practice.’ Now, it is up to us; how seriously do we take this?

We are an acupuncturist. We must become a specialist in gathering and analyzing information from the patient’s body through touch. We need to properly train our hands to handle needles and moxa. Practicing needling and moxibustion is like practicing scales on the piano. In both cases, practicing the basics makes our hands be flexible, sensitive and have full control. This is what is certainly required as an acupuncturist.

This is the basics. This is the key. This is the Seino-system.

Why don’t acupuncture schools teach this the first thing when we enter the school (in Canada, at least)? 氣 “Qi” or 氣血 “Qi and Body (blood etc.)” is the foundation of acumoxa. Imagine, when your common sense completely flips and changes the way your view the world. The experience of re-learning the word and definition is like this.

We are indeed talking about the basics, but this is not JUST the basics. This is a very huge topic. The philosophy behind it is so big and different from our norms that it would take us some time to digest.

We believe that this day will be memorable; a very important day that marks our big start.

We are planning to hold more seminars in the future. Our goal is to spread Seino-system to the world and raise more and more practitioners who can truly cure patients with acumoxa.

We are looking forward to working with those who are willing to take their time to practice needling and moxibustion! Practice makes perfect!

Last but not least!!

The date for the second seminar on Japanese Acupuncture with Tak has been decided!

Don’t miss out! Stay tuned for more information.
