Humans, like all animals, experience muscle deterioration and decreased organ function if they do not move regularly. For this reason, exercise is necessary throughout the year. As the saying goes, “Consistency is power.” However, those who are not fond of exercise tend to stay indoors and rest whenever it gets a bit chilly or the weather is gloomy.
For people who do not exercise regularly, spring is the ideal season to start. As the weather gradually warms up, muscles naturally become more flexible. Unlike summer, the temperature is moderate, which reduces strain on the heart. Additionally, the nights are more comfortable, making it easier to recover from fatigue.
Seasonal Considerations for Exercise:
• Summer: Exercising under the intense sun is not advisable. Since the heart is already working actively even without additional movement, excessive exercise is not necessary.
• Autumn: The air tends to have lower oxygen levels, and the temperature fluctuations can be extreme, making it a season where energy is easily depleted.
• Winter: The cold causes muscles and joints to stiffen, increasing the risk of joint injuries. Many wild animals hibernate during this season for a reason.
For those who exercise regularly, the impact of seasonal changes is minimal. However, for individuals who are just beginning to build their fitness, it is beneficial to prioritize rest, sleep, and proper nutrition during winter and gradually start exercising around March or April. This approach will yield better results.
