AcuMoxa and YOGA Therapy May Help People with Uterine Prolapse

For people experiencing uterine prolapse, practicing YOGA may be beneficial. Uterine prolapse is primarily associated with weakening of the structures that support the uterus and pelvic floor, including the uterosacral and cardinal ligaments and the pelvic floor muscles and fascia. YOGA therapy, which combines appropriate exercises with YOGA asanas, may help strengthen the pelvic floor and improve its supporting function.

For those with more significant symptoms or urinary incontinence, AcuMoxa therapy may also be considered as a complementary treatment. Regular treatment once or twice a week for several months, together with appropriate exercise and medical care, may help improve symptoms and overall physical well-being.

People who continue to experience physical discomfort after medical treatment or surgery may also consider AcuMoxa as part of their supportive care. AcuMoxa uses carefully applied acupuncture and moxibustion to support the body’s overall function and recovery. If you are interested in this approach, please consult a qualified acupuncturist or a healthcare facility where acupuncture is provided.

A Message from The Centre for Japanese Acupuncture

Uterine prolapse is a condition that becomes more common with age, particularly after menopause and childbirth. Because changes in the pelvic floor and its supporting structures develop gradually over time, maintaining pelvic floor function through regular exercise and appropriate physical activity is important.

At The Centre for Japanese Acupuncture (CFJA), we believe that care should focus not only on individual symptoms, but also on supporting the body as a whole. Pelvic floor exercises and YOGA can help maintain muscle strength, flexibility, and function, while AcuMoxa may be used as complementary care to support overall physical well-being and address associated symptoms.

Uterine prolapse can vary considerably in severity. If you experience a vaginal bulge or pressure, urinary problems, or other symptoms that may suggest pelvic organ prolapse, we recommend seeking an appropriate medical evaluation first.

As we age, changes in the body are inevitable, but there are many things we can do to maintain our physical function. Rather than waiting until symptoms become troublesome, incorporating appropriate exercise and regular body care into daily life may help support a healthier and more active life in the years ahead.

At CFJA, we hope that AcuMoxa, together with appropriate exercise and YOGA, can become one part of your ongoing approach to maintaining a strong and healthy body.
