Acupuncture and Moxibustion Are Effective for Tinnitus

Many people visit clinics with ear-related symptoms. A representative condition is sudden hearing loss. Although the exact mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment has not been clarified, when treatment is administered on the very first day of onset, the symptoms often resolve on the same day or by the next. With just one or two treatment sessions, along with sufficient sleep and rest, the probability of recovery is high.

For tinnitus, many patients report: “I have felt this since childhood, but I never thought it could be cured.” With persistent treatment, tinnitus can often be reduced or even resolved, making it worthwhile to consult a nearby acupuncture clinic or a healthcare facility where licensed acupuncturists practice.

Acupuncture, moxibustion, and Oketsu (blood stasis) therapy are considered “integrative internal–external treatments,” capable of influencing internal organ function from outside the body. For people who have not achieved results with medication (internal medicine) or whose symptoms have not disappeared even after surgery (surgical treatment), acupuncture and moxibustion (internal–external treatments) are highly recommended.

For individuals with decreased physical strength, yoga is also advised. By learning yoga exercises and breathing techniques, symptoms such as dizziness can be alleviated and even prevented.
