1. What is sleep?

It is said that Napoleon only slept for three hours. Was this true? How many hours of sleep do you get every day?

Humans feel ‘tired’ after continuous activity or labour. If we ignore this tired feeling and continue our activities, our internal organs will eventually start to send signals to the body to tell it “you are tired, please rest”. The biggest sign that most people recognize easily is pain. For some people, it can also be expressed as ‘fever’.

To avoid this condition, it is necessary to stop working when you feel tired. This is called ‘rest’. It is important to close the eyes, breathe calmly and keep the body still. When this is done for an extended period of time we call this ‘sleep’. This continuous state is called ‘sleep’.

Sleep is very important because it is the most effective way for recovery for all living things. To be fatigued means that the “internal organs are tired“. The human internal organs work 24 hours a day without a break, but it is thought that when we lie down, our internal organs have the opportunity for some rest.
