Yoga and Nasal Rinsing Can Be Effective for Nasal Congestion!

It is often said that certain yoga poses (asanas) can provide immediate relief from nasal congestion. In addition, practicing yoga helps to restore and support digestive function.

As a countermeasure for hay fever, nasal rinsing (neti) can also be beneficial. Performing a nasal rinse after waking up or after coming back from outside can help reduce sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion.

It is important to rinse the nose 2 to 3 times daily. This practice is especially recommended for those who are prone to allergic reactions.

Acupuncture and Moxibustion Are Effective for Strengthening Digestion and Relieving Seasonal Allergy Symptoms

Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy are highly effective in restoring and enhancing digestive function, and can help improve the body’s ability to process and absorb food.

They are particularly beneficial for addressing the following symptoms:

  • Eye-related symptoms: itchy eyes, redness, excessive tearing

  • Nasal symptoms: sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion

  • General symptoms: fatigue, mild feverish sensation, irritability, itchiness in the throat, face, or neck, and reduced concentration

Acupuncture and moxibustion are forms of “internal-external therapy”, which stimulate internal organ functions from outside the body. These therapies are especially helpful for individuals who do not respond well to pharmaceutical treatments (internal medicine) or who continue to experience symptoms even after surgical interventions (external medicine).

If treatment is administered on the same day that symptoms appear, many patients experience relief or full resolution of symptoms in just one to a few sessions.

For those who have been struggling with these issues for years, we recommend visiting a qualified acupuncturist or a healthcare facility where acupuncture and moxibustion treatments are available.

If you are looking to strengthen your digestive system, yoga is also highly recommended.

By incorporating proper yoga postures and breathing techniques, it is possible to support the prevention and management of seasonal allergies such as hay fever.
